Standard ZnS (Zinc Sulphide) made by CVD (Chemical Vapor Deposition) technique method to obtain high transmittance, CVD ZnS is polycrystalline material, it is excellent windows and domes material for long-wave infrared imaging system for military applications or other harsh environments, due to its high transmission, good optical uniformity, exceptional fracture strength, hardness, and chemical inactivity. CVD ZnS is chemically inert, highly pure, theoretically dense and easily machined. Zinc sulfide displays a high level of the index of refraction homogeneity and offers imaging uniformity across the 3-12 micron waveband. With good optical properties and excellent mechanical properties, CVD ZnS has been used successfully in many military applications requiring mechanical resistance to hostile environments.

Multispectral ZnS is made from Standard ZnS by a post-deposition hot isostatic (HIP) process. (Hot-pressed) Polycrystalline Zinc Sulphide is a kind of infrared optical material with a wide transmittance range.
It is prepared from highly pure zinc sulfide raw material under vacuum and high-temperature condition.
It possesses good infrared transmission and thermal property and high impact overloading resistance. Since it can be directly pressed into large size plates and spherical windows with various curvature radiuses, it has been extensively used in the infrared detector windows with various sizes. Besides, this product is still a kind of good coating material.
At present Honour offers dome less than Dia. 270mm x 85mm x 10mm, and Plate less than Dia.360mm x 15mm. Working well at 3-5um and 7.5-10.5um.

High precision ZnS optics exhibits high strength and hardness, and good resistance to hostile environments.
It is about one-third harder than Cleartran and about twice as hard as ZnSe.
It does not transmit well in the visible spectral region.
It has the relatively low cost of about two thirds the price of Cleartran or ZnSe.
ZnSe is diamond turnable.

AR coating options: Typically available coatings for ZnS include BBAR for the 0.8-2.5μm and 0.4-12um (Multispectral ZnS), 3 to 5μm and the 8 to 12μm regions.
