UV Fused Silica Window: UV grade fused silica is an excellent material for the transmission from 185nm to 2100nm. UV fused silica is also frequently used at the popular 1.064µm Nd: YAG laser wavelength because of better thermal stability than BK7 glass. UV fused silica has high homogeneity and good mechanical properties. UV fused silica is ideal for uses in UV and high power laser applications.
Borofloat and Pyrex Window: Borofloat and Pyrex are borosilicate glass. Borosilicate glasses are known for having very low coefficients of thermal expansion (~3.3 × 10-6/°C at 20°C); making them resistant to thermal shock, more so than any other common glass. Windows made of Borofloat and Pyrex glass are less subject to thermal stress than BK7 windows.
CaF2 Window: Calcium fluoride crystal provides great transmission from DUV to IR (0.13-11µm). Synthetic CaF2 crystal is used to improve deep UV transmission and to increase the damage threshold.
MgF2 Window: Magnesium Fluoride Windows offer excellent broadband transmission from the vacuum-UV to the mid-infrared (0.11 µm - 8.5 µm). VUV transmission makes them ideal for use at the Hydrogen Lyman-alpha line and for UV radiation sources and receivers, as well as excimer laser applications. MgF2 is a rugged material resistant to chemical etching, laser damage, and mechanical and thermal shock.
BaF2 Window: Barium Fluoride is recommended for use as a vacuum ultraviolet window where high radiation resistance is required. BaF2 is relatively more soluble than MgF2 and CaF2. BaF2 also used for IR applications and can be BBAR coated for use in the 0.8-2.5µm, 3.0-5.0µm and 1.0-5.0 ranges.
YAG Window: Un-doped/pure YAG Crystal is an excellent material for UV-IR optical windows, particularly for high temperature and high energy density application.
Sapphire Window: Sapphire crystal is featured with high-hardness - abrasion resistance; transparent in the range from ultraviolet to infrared light (200-7000nm); excellent chemical resistance and heat resistance - resist almost all kinds of acid and alkaline, heat up to 2000 ºC.
Silicon Window: Silicon is used as an optical window primarily in the 3 to 5-micron band and as a substrate for production of optical filters.
Germanium windows: Germanium are ideal for IR applications at a broad range of wavelengths, including use in lower power CO2 lasers. Germanium also has low dispersion, ideal for imaging applications. The windows feature an AR coating providing high transmission from 3 to 12 µm.
Zinc Selenide windows: ZnSe window is suitable for applications in the IR band and is often used as an IR viewport window for thermography or as demountable cell windows in spectroscopy. For the better performance, ZnSe windows could be coated with a broadband AR coating at 2-12um or 8-14um.
